ATLAS HO SCALE ZINGERS SLOTCAR CHASSIS

by Joe Bodnarchuk - MisterAtlas

The ZINGERS slotcar chassis, which was produced from 1966 to 1970, is a redesigned modification of the Slimline PANTHER XX slot car Chassis. The ZINGERS were touted as “The fastest HO slotcars for the price on the market AT THE LOW LOW PRICE OF $1.50.” With proper care and maintenance, your Atlas ZINGERS slotcars should give you countless hours of satisfactory running. Unfortunately, maintaining a ZINGERS chassis is an arduous task at best because:

  1. They are extremely difficult to dismantle.
  2. They are often found broken.
  3. Replacement parts are difficult to locate.
From a racer’s standpoint, repairing ZINGERS chassis to perfect status is nearly impossible. From a collectors point of view, finding perfect ZINGERS slot cars for the shelf is equally difficult.

To remove BRUSH ASSEMBLY, which includes BRUSH BUSHING #M118B, BRUSH SPRING #M107 and BRUSH #M106, turn lead weight as shown and pry out BRUSH BUSHING #M118B with appropriate tool.

HINT: Use FORMULA XX special slot car racing lube for best results. A small drop of FORMULA XX on WORM #M179B and AXLE GEAR #C164B will last for several hours of fast racing. Use of light oil, will spin off, causing excessive wear.

Keep slot car track roadway clean by wiping with dry soft cloth. Static electricity will attract lint to axles and gears causing improper performance and possible damage. HINT: For best results do NOT run any slot car set directly on carpet.

NOTE: Version I & II ZINGERS chassis connect to the body with either screws or pins. From the factory, ZINGERS Version II chassis were ONLY connected with pins. If you find a ZINGERS Version II chassis that is connected with screws, this is was done after the car was opened from package or removed from a set and NOT at the factory. Any ZINGERS II chassis attached by screws is a sure sign that the chassis was removed for a variety of reasons, such as maintenance, repair, etc. Any ZINGERS I or II chassis found attached to a NON ZINGERS body style is a sure sign that the chassis was tampered with.
